Description

Have you admired West African Indigo Dye fabrics from afar? Come join me as we travel through the West African, specifically the Nigerian history of Indigo Dyeing and the meaning behind many of their designs.

During this workshop you’ll learn about the traditional Yoruba techniques of Batilk, Adire Eleko and Tie-Dye. We will talk about and walk through the widely used resist process which applies colors or patterns to your fabric by using wood block stamps, stencils, or by using the traditional Tie-Dye methods.

At the conclusion of the workshop, you’ll be able to walk away with your own West African Indigo Dye Masterpiece. If you love all things blue, then this workshop is a must for you!

The objectives: The primary objective is to introduce the workshop attendees to the traditional Yoruba techniques of Batilk, Adire Eleko and Tie Dye. They will learn the resist process to create vibrant patterns using wood block stamps, stencils and the traditional Tie-Dye methods.
