Raised in a small seaside town on the coast of South Wales, Brandon Mably developed an early fascination with color and design.

With no formal training, Mably made a bold career shift in the late 1980s, moving from cooking to knitting after a chance meeting with world-renowned designer Kaffe Fassett. Fassett has since described Brandon as having “one of the sharpest eyes for style” he has ever encountered.

From the moment he entered Kaffe’s studio, Brandon recognized the creative potential of knitwear and soon became Fassett’s apprentice. Over the years, he played a key role in managing the studio while being trained in knitting, needlepoint, hooked rag rugs, and mosaic grouting.

An inspiring collaborator and teacher, Brandon began traveling internationally with Kaffe to lead workshops. Journeys to places such as Africa, Iceland, Guatemala, and India deeply influenced his work, sparking a vibrant exploration of color and pattern.

A passionate educator, Brandon believes that most people possess an innate sense of color and design waiting to be uncovered. Helping others discover that creative instinct continues to motivate and inspire his work today.
