Mike Johns - Baby Lock National Education and Training Specialist
Growing up in a family of crafters, Mike has always been surrounded by creatives who enjoy the process of making things by hand and learning new skills. He grew up watching his Mother sew, but it wasn't until he began his studies at Florida State University, where he received both Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees in Costume Design and Technology, that he found his love for sewing, pattern making/drafting, draping, embroidery, fiber arts, quilting, and millenary. He also found his passion for teaching while working on his graduate degree. Mike states he is thrilled to be a part of a community full of wonderful, kind, and giving individuals, and he is constantly amazed by the generosity and support it provides. Being a Veteran of the United States Navy, as both Enlisted and Officer, service organizations with focus on the Military hold a special place in his heart. One of his favorite memories is the day he was presented with his Quilt of Valor in 2019.
