Cosplay Studio: Adjusting Sewing Patterns for Your Perfect Fit
Date & Time
Friday, May 1, 2026, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Madison May
Description

Whether you're building a screen-accurate cosplay or crafting a custom-fit garment, knowing how to adjust patterns is one of the most valuable skills a maker can have. In this intermediate-level demonstration, the head pattern maker at CUT/SEW will guide students through the fundamentals of fit correction and pattern adaptation, focusing on real-world issues that affect both commercial patterns and costume builds.

You’ll learn how to take in, let out, lengthen, and shorten patterns, along with smart techniques for adjusting volume in areas like the shoulders, bust, waist, hips, and inseam - all without compromising the design lines you fell in love with in the first place. Whether you're making armor-friendly bodysuits, tailoring jackets for movement, or simply want your handmade clothing to fit like it was made for you (because it was), this class will give you the tools to make it work.
