Description

Have a collection of leftover or mismatched quilt blocks and no idea what to do with them? In this hands-on design workshop, you’ll learn how to turn those unused blocks into a cohesive and visually striking quilt. Using principles of color, value, balance, and repetition, we’ll explore how to combine blocks from one or many projects into intentional designs that go beyond the traditional grid.

Through guided exercises, sketching, and paper-based layout experiments, you’ll test multiple design options before choosing a direction that works. You’ll also collaborate with other students to explore new combinations and gain feedback through group critique. By the end of class, you’ll have a clear, personalized plan for transforming your orphan blocks into a finished quilt top.
