This creative, hands-on sewing class invites students to design and construct a fabric bowl with an artistic, one-of-a-kind feel. Designed for intermediate-level sewists, the class focuses on both structure and creative expression. Students will explore the use of stiff interfacing to create a sturdy base that allows the bowl to hold its form beautifully. Creativity is encouraged throughout the process, allowing each student to develop a unique piece.
Students may choose to design their art bowl using fabric scraps, piecing techniques, appliqué, or a single fabric with a playful or bold print. Each bowl will reflect the student’s personal style and creative choices. By the end of class, each participant will leave with a completed fabric art bowl and the skills to recreate the project at home in new variations.

Two Kit Options:
Full Kit: A complete kit will be available and includes peltex (interfacing) already cut to the shape of the bowl, along with three fat quarters: one for the front of the bowl (a playful or featured print), one for the back of the bowl, and one for creating bias tape to bind the edge of the bowl.
Only interfacing Kit: Peltex (interfacing) will also be available on its own, already cut to shape. Students selecting this option should bring their own fabrics and are encouraged to consider whether they would like to use a single fabric with a fun print for the front of the bowl (bring a fat quarter or ½ yard) or a selection of fabric scraps for piecing or appliqué for the front of the bowl.
